It is seen that there exists several similarities in socio cultural patterns, anthropological/ethnic background and proto - religious practices between people of NE States and the ASEAN and BBIN countries. As such, the AEPA Department have strived for building bridges between the people of these two regions through cultural and technical exchanges. The Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh and the Bhutan Consulate have already beenset up in Guwahati and the AEPA Department has the agenda of Consulates/ Assistant High Commissioners’ Offices of other countries and having facilities for Visa-Free Travel / Visa on Arrival for bona-fide people. Moreover, there have been student exchange programmes across the countries that bolster people to people connectivityto a great extent across the regions.
